This facility is a resort/playground for psychiatric patients to meet & 'hook up'. Medication is given freely. Family member was admitted for psychiatric care/behavior issues & came out 8 weeks later with SO many more issues. No supervision and no true care for patients well being by staff. A horrific experience for my family. As previous reviews mentioned would give ZERO if possible!! UNBELIEVABLE!! Predators are permitted to 'mingle' with general patients while in The Meadows Behavioral Health Facility.
The only reason why I'm giving them 3 stars is because my daughter felt that they helped her, which is what counts. And they were the ONLY ones who asked if she was hallucinating, which she was. There were a few nurses that were absolutely wonderful and I could tell that they cared about her well being and not just because it was their job.
After waiting over 40 hours in a local emergency room for a bed to open up, my 11-year-old, autistic with various other behavioral issues, son was placed here for suicidal thoughts. Upon admission, we were lied to about many things, and once he was behind locked doors, we were told there was nothing we could do about any of them! He was admitted on a weekend, and when he had not received any of his medication for over a 16 hour period, We were told that the pharmacy was closed! By that time my son was spiraling downwards because of lack of medication and going off everything abruptly. My husband and I fought the next two days to get him out of there And with great reluctance, they finally released him. My son was severely traumatized by this incident and now is petrified to be placed anywhere. It doesn’t surprise me that this is the only facility that always has a bed open! All of the other competent facilities are always filled. I would not recommend anyone placing their child in this facility. The only reason I gave it one star was there was no option to give it zero stars.
I went here for about 2 weeks and on one part it helped me greatly with the music and art therapy but the staff sucks and one even called me a "little b**ch " and they didn't do anything about it. They didn't conciderate that we are mentally ill and need help. Only a handful cared about us.
My boyfriends son is there and all he said about it when he went to visit him at 5:15 today 7/19/2017 a it looked like they had his son on dope!!!??? He was so gone it was unreal the reason he was put there is because the "doctors" got him on so many meds since he was 3 now 11 they wanted to base line him and start over some of the meds he was on he would go into with draw from and they wanted again "professional" help to keep eye on him it looks like they just pumped him with more meds....?????
However, the lack of communication is just awful. If it wasn't for me getting involved and asking tons of questions over the course of her care on what was happening to her I wouldn't know anything about her treatment or what was going on. Such as does the Doctor seeing her and about therapy. They only allow a few articles of clothing and what happens if she's in there for a long period. She was there for 4 days before they even allowed her to take a shower, which was after I spoke up. They talked about putting her on Ensure because I told them I was concerned that she had an eating disorder. They didn't do anything until a week later (because I kept nagging) and after she had lost 10 pounds. That may not sound like much for some, however my daughter didn't even have 1 pound to spare. They would inform me that they were going to do things such as increasing her meds or putting her on Ensure, however, after I kept asking them if they started it day after day, I kept getting a response "no not yet"......like really!!!! The Therapist wanted to talk to me on one occasion and instead of taking me to her office she's explaining things to me out in the lobby in front of other people which I was uncomfortable with, (ah hello HIPPA!!). And what ticked me off was when they discharged her on a Sunday, I went to fill her script and find out that the Doctor didn't do a prior authorization. I called the Meadows and their response was well she can either skip the pill for today or I can pay for one pill out of pocket myself, which I did pay for. I contacted the Insurance company the next day because I wasn't going to rely on the Meadows to do their job.
